Epithalon
Epithalon (also known as Epitalon or Epithalone) is a synthetic tetrapeptide based on the naturally occurring peptide Epithalamin, produced by the pineal gland. It has been primarily studied for its potential effects on telomerase activity in research models.
Mechanism of Action
Research suggests Epithalon may activate telomerase, the enzyme responsible for maintaining telomere length in chromosomes. Telomere shortening is associated with cellular aging, and telomerase activation has been a key area of longevity research.
Research Background
Epithalon research was pioneered by Professor Vladimir Khavinson at the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, with studies spanning over 35 years in aging biology.
