Ipamorelin
Ipamorelin is a selective growth hormone secretagogue (GHS) and ghrelin receptor agonist composed of five amino acids. It is studied for its ability to stimulate growth hormone release from the pituitary gland with high selectivity in animal models.
Mechanism of Action
Ipamorelin acts on the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R) in the anterior pituitary. Unlike other GHS compounds, research suggests it does not significantly affect cortisol, prolactin, or ACTH levels, making it a selective GH stimulator.
Research Background
Ipamorelin has been studied since the late 1990s as a more selective alternative to GHRP-6 and GHRP-2 for growth hormone research.
